The twice Augusta Masters champion and three-times Ryder Cup winner, visited on 6 of October the project, which he designed together with his “Olazabal-IGD design team”. The golf course will be capable of holding international tournaments and is envisaged to become the winter headquarters of European PGA golf professionals. This was Jose Maria Olazabal’s second visit to Corvera Golf & Country Club to supervise the work on the golf course, which will be able to hold international tournaments and will be the future winter headquarters of European PGA golf professionals. Olazabal expressed his satisfaction with the progress made since his last visit less than three months ago, and during his visit assured that the “construction work was advancing steadily, in line with the expected quality and deadlines”. Olazabal, one of When looking around the 18-hole, par 72 course, which measures 6,793 metres, Olazabal inspected the work currently being carried out and paid particular attention to the positioning of tees, bunkers and greens, making various modifications and corrections. He aims to provide a course that is challenging but responds well to good strokes, with each hole having its own unique character. Antonio Lopez, manager of Corvera Golf & Country Club, pointed out that in October, “the drainage system for the entire course is expected to be completed, work on the irrigation system will continue, and the excavation and slopes of one of the lakes will be finished”. He also highlighted some of the work currently in progress, such as the contouring of the practice green and installation of the irrigation system at hole 12, as woodland has already been planted at most of the holes.
